Mediocridades Elevadas à 5ª (*)
Agora que alguns começavam a respirar de alívio pelo facto da televisão portuguesa estar, aparentemente, descontaminada, surge uma nova agressão: o reality-show “Quinta das Celebridades”, a nova aposta da TVI na poluição televisiva.
De formato sueco e experimentado em França, Itália, Alemanha, Espanha e EUA (onde era visto por uma média de 8 milhões de espectadores), “Quinta das Celebridades” foi agora adaptado a Portugal. Neste novo concurso pretende-se que 12 concorrentes, as supostas celebridades, fiquem confinados dentro de uma herdade durante 3 meses, sujeitando-se a viver, grosso modo, segundo os moldes do final do século XIX. Como seria de esperar, não falta o toque orwelliano, o que significa que para além de estarem privadas de muitos confortos, as celebridades estão a ser vigiadas 24 horas por dia. Mas nem tudo são desvantagens. Para obter um bom elenco na “Novela da Vida Rural”, a Endemol dispôs-se a pagar regiamente: entre 5 mil e 25 mil euros semanais, consoante a celebridade.
Agora vejamos: se existem pessoas no mundo que são obrigadas a subsistir com apenas 2 euros diários, será justo que pseudo-estrelas recebam contas exorbitantes lá por estarem a mungir vacas e plantar couves para um país inteiro ver?
Por outro lado, o próprio nome do programa induz num grave erro. De facto, serão os concorrentes verdadeiras vedetas, personalidades com obra feita ou pessoas que alcançaram alguma notoriedade por motivos um pouco dúbios? Celebridades porque foram acusadas de tráfico de jóias, ofereceram um espectáculo deprimente de pontapés durante um jogo de futebol, protagonizaram filmes pornográficos ou apresentaram um programa televisivo nuas? Na minha opinião, só o facto destas pessoas serem consideradas célebres mostra quão baixo é o nível cultural da nossa sociedade. Não é celebridade aquele que se destaca nos campos literários, da música ou da política, mas sim aqueles que fazem as delícias das massas, são veteranos nas revistas “cor-de-rosa” ou já surgiram por entre as luzes da ribalta social.
Na minha óptica, é a atracção irresistível pelo exibicionismo, pelo “show off”, que leva estas celebridades decadentes a venderem a sua privacidade. É também impressionante a sua futilidade: que dizer de uma pessoa que perde meia hora do seu dia a filosofar se veste Armani ou Channel?
Apesar de tudo, é esse género de programas que ganha a guerra das audiências. Foi com “Quinta das Celebridades” que a TVI conseguiu pôr termo à liderança da SIC, liderança essa que já se arrastava há sete meses consecutivos. Em termos éticos, este facto levanta-nos outra questão. Apesar de os concorrentes não serem obrigados a participar, ao assinarem o contrato estão a tornar-se fantoches numa farsa improvisada e medíocre. Basta ver o que sucedeu a Zé Maria, vencedor da primeira edição de “Big Brother”, que sofre agora de graves perturbações, as quais, inclusive, já o levaram à beira do suicídio.
Quando o porta-voz da TVI afirmou: “Acreditamos (…) no gosto que os portugueses têm neste género de programas.” - sabia decerto que “Quinta das Celebridades” seria um sucesso. De facto, a maioria dos portugueses, com todos os problemas que o país e o mundo atravessam, parece estar apenas interessada em conhecer os pormenores sórdidos da vida quotidiana dos concorrentes e prefere viver nesta doce alienação.
